We walked to Battersea Car Boot Sale after a disappointing experience at Capital Car Boot. When we got there we found that if we waited half an hour we’d be able to get in for just 50p.
So we killed some time just down the road in a lovely but expensive Italian cafe (Caffetino) and had some food and coffee then headed back to check out the boot fair. Lots of stalls, all pretty full even at 1.30 in the afternoon and mainly very reasonably priced.
There were piles to rummage through if you felt like it, or you could head for the neater clothes on rails. As well as clothes there was a good selection of china, jewellery and odd bits and bobs, including a 1975 Star Wars pencil case and a necklace with what looked like a golden prune hanging on it!
The best thing to shop for seemed to be mens shoes, there was an amazing selection of beautiful brogues, creepers and leather boots on one stall. I bought a gorgeous hallmarked silver ring with a stone that looks like moonstone set in it for just £10. It’s rare for me to find rings that fit my tiny fingers so I was super happy.

Love Battersea Boot. You can buy everything from Scrimshaw, to jewelry, to used clothes, to essential household goods like crock pots. I would go as far as to say that if you are patient enough and shopped here every Sunday, you could feather your nest and clothe yourself entirely from Battersea Boot.
Then, when your place starts to look like more of a boot fair than a home, gather it all up and sell it all back to the punters at Battersea. It costs £10 for a space in the carpark– £3 extra if you want to rent a table too. The entrance fee for shoppers is a bit more complicated: To enter before noon pay £5–I would not recommend this because many of the vendors are not set up yet.
To enter at noon pay £3–This is worth it. Most vendors are set up and you get first grabs. If you want to wait until 1:30 you only pay 50p–there’s still a lot of junk left and you can spend the money you save on an ice cream cone or a boot fair breakfast.
